The Voiczy March 2026 update introduces three major features: a new Sentence Learning module, completely * redesigned dashboards* for both children and parents, and a streaks and badges system to reward daily practice. This is our biggest release since launch, and it changes how your child moves from knowing words to actually speaking a language.
If you missed our previous updates, you can read about the December 2025 release which introduced the Voice Game engine and the Learn-to-Earn Arcade.
Here is what's new, and why it matters.
Until now, Voiczy taught vocabulary through individual words. Words are important, but a child who knows "apple," "I," " want," and "please" still cannot walk into a bakery in Paris and say "Je voudrais une pomme, s'il vous plait." Sentence Learning is designed to close exactly that gap.
Each sentence goes through four stages, progressing from passive listening to active speaking:
Stage 1: Listen & Watch. Your child sees an illustrated scene and hears the sentence in both their native language and the target language. There is nothing to tap or answer. They just listen and absorb the rhythm. For example, they might see a picture of a family at dinner and hear "Ik wil graag water" (I would like water) in Dutch.
Stage 2: Pick the Image. The sentence plays again, this time only in the target language, and your child picks the correct image from three options. This is a comprehension check: do they understand what the sentence means? If they pick wrong, the app shows the correct answer without judgment and moves on.
Stage 3: Rhythm Breakdown. The full sentence appears as individual words. Your child taps each word in order, hearing it pronounced clearly. This is where pronunciation confidence builds, word by word, at their own pace, before they attempt the full sentence.
Stage 4: Repeat After Me. Your child records themselves saying the complete sentence. Leo, our AI tutor, listens, gives encouragement, and awards coins for effort. The first few sentences get a gentle native-language prompt ("Now say it!"). By the fourth sentence, the prompt disappears entirely. Your child is speaking on their own.
A typical session contains 4-6 sentences. After completing all stages for each sentence, your child sees a celebration screen with their accuracy score and coins earned.
Sentences don't disappear after one session. Voiczy uses a spaced repetition algorithm that brings learned sentences back for review at increasing intervals: after 1 day, then 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, and finally 30 days. Review sessions use a shorter three-stage flow (skipping the Rhythm Breakdown) so they feel quick and rewarding rather than repetitive.
This is the same spacing approach used in proven flashcard systems, adapted for spoken language. The result: your child practices sentences right before they would forget them, which is the most efficient way to move knowledge into long-term memory.
Sentence Learning works for any child already building vocabulary on Voiczy. If your child can recognize basic words in their target language, they are ready for sentences. It is also valuable for children who understand a second language at home but are shy about speaking it. The gradual progression from listening to speaking gives them a safe runway to build confidence. If that sounds familiar, you might also find our article on the silent period in language learning helpful.
We rebuilt both dashboards from scratch. The previous design worked, but as we added more features (books, AI conversations, vocabulary, and now sentences) the layout became cluttered. Here is what changed.
The new layout puts all learning activities on one screen: vocabulary, sentences, speak-along books, and conversations with AI. Your child sees their current streak and recent badges at the top, their progress in the center, and a clear "pick up where you left off" entry point.
Previously, children had to navigate through multiple tabs to find different activities. Now everything is one or two taps away. The design is more colorful and playful. It feels like opening a toy box, not a classroom app.
The biggest change for parents is multi-child support. If you have two or three children learning with Voiczy, you no longer need separate accounts. Switch between children and see each one's data independently.
We also added an insights section that shows:
This gives you a real picture of what is working, not just a number on a screen.
Consistency beats intensity in language learning. Research on bilingual development consistently shows that daily exposure, even just a few minutes, is more effective than occasional long sessions. Streaks and badges are designed to make that daily habit stick.
Any completed learning activity (a vocabulary game, a sentence session, reading a book, or a conversation with Leo) counts as a day. The dashboard shows a streak counter: "3 days in a row," "7 days in a row," and so on.
We kept it simple on purpose. There is no minimum session length and no penalty for a short day. The goal is to make showing up feel rewarding. In our testing, children who saw their streak counter became noticeably more motivated to practice the next day. "I don't want to break my streak!" turns out to be a powerful motivator for a six-year-old.
Badges mark concrete achievements:
Every badge requires genuine learning activity. There are no badges for logging in, watching animations, or tapping through screens. Your child earns them by doing real work, and they know it.
Does Sentence Learning work in all languages? Yes. Sentence Learning is available across all languages Voiczy supports. The sentences, audio, and images are fully localized for each language.
Can my child start with sentences if they are a beginner? We recommend building some basic vocabulary first. Children who can recognize common words in their target language will get the most out of Sentence Learning, since the stages build on word recognition.
Do streaks reset if we miss a day? Yes, the current streak resets to zero. However, the "longest streak" record is always preserved, so your child can always try to beat their personal best.
We are expanding the sentence library every week and working on new ways for children to practice speaking in everyday contexts. If you want to stay up to date, check our announcements page or follow this blog.
If your child is already using Voiczy, all three features are live. Open the app and let them explore.
